Biggest Takeaways From Week 15
What a week of football! This week had it all, we've got comebacks, unretired slingers, playoff clinching, teams eliminated from playoff contention and a team that has pulled off back to back upsets. So I thought I would react to this fantastic slate of games today.
Let's start with Philip Rivers
If you would have told me last week that 44 year old Philip Rivers was going to be playing a football game in the NFL I would have laughed in your face, but here we are. And Rivers actually looked pretty good for his first game back, especially considering the defense he was playing. The Colts did end up losing the game but it was not because of Philip Rivers.
Patriots vs. Bills
The Patriots got out to a 0-21 lead on the bills in the first half and looked like the dominant team for the entirety of the 1st half. The Bills (for the second week in a row) had a hole to climb out of in the second half trailing 7-24. To start the second half, the Bills put up 21 unanswered points ultimately taking the lead for the first time all game.
Ultimately the Bills would keep the lead over the Patriots enroute to a 35-31 win. This was a statement win for the Bills, they proved they are a balanced team that has what it takes to make a run for the super bowl. And as for the Patriots, I think this loss is a long term "good" for the them. While I don't think the Patriots are super bowl contenders now, this loss will make them a better team in the long run.
THE CHIEFS ARE OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS
On Sunday after a loss to the Chargers, the Chiefs were mathematically eliminated form the playoffs. I can't tell you how excited I am to watch the playoffs now. For far too long I have had to root against the Chiefs simply because I didn't want to see another "Patrick Mahomes Bowl". Now, I can put my feet up and relax knowing I won't see another "Patrick Mahomes Bowl" again.
This post is a little on the shorter side but I wanted to provide my reactions to some of the best football I've seen all season. What was your favorite moment? Personally, mine was Philip Rivers amazing comeback to the NFL.
