Regretting My Predictions Already
Alright… so some of my bolder predictions I am now regretting from last week, and today I’m going to talk further about my thoughts for my predictions last week.
But first… my weekly Steelers rant: I never want to watch the Steelers play a football game again, but is that actually going to happen? No.
AFC South and the Colts
Let’s get into one prediction that a friend of mine texted me, infuriated about: the Jaguars winning the AFC South over the Colts who in my prediction barely made the playoffs. I have two things to point out regarding this prediction.
1. The Colts schedule is challenging for the rest of the season with games against the Chiefs, Seahawks, 49ers and two games against the Jaguars. With the other two games being games against the Texans. This schedule is hard compared to the way they started the season, and I have a hard time seeing them come out of the mini gauntlet with more then 4 wins. Which would put them at 12 wins… but that leads me to my next reason.
2. With the Jaguars relatively easy schedule for the rest of the year, I see 5 wins left on their schedule, which includes a series split with the Colts. If the Jags could have closed out their game on Sunday at Texans I would have felt better about my prediction that the AFC was going to come down to the wire more then people may have expected.
NFC West
My next regret is what I did with the NFC West. Particularly having the 49ers winning the division AND being the 2nd seed in the NFC over the Seahawks and the Rams. My only defense is have you seen the Niners schedule? It's extremely easy and I saw the Niners continuing to find ways to win against good teams. I did overlook just how good of a season Rams QB Matthew Stafford is having… which could be his best yet in his long career.
still think there is a possibility for the 49ers to make the playoffs and even win the west, but I don’t know if they will be as high as the second seed. I am, however, really high on the Seahawks as you saw with my Super Bowl prediction. The NFC West always sees lesser teams winning the division because of the competitive nature of the division, this is mostly due to coaching. Because of this, I predicted upsets in the west to the point where the Niners won the division.
